Fact Check Policy

At LAIESLYBIRD, accuracy is the foundation of everything we do. We believe that a free, informed society depends on reliable information. We do not publish stories unless we can independently verify the core facts.

Before any story is published, our reporters and editors verify information against multiple independent sources. We prefer to be second and right, rather than first and wrong.

We fact-check:

• Statistics, figures, and data cited in articles
• Quotes attributed to public figures and officials
• Claims made in press releases and official statements
• Viral social media content before reporting on it
• Information from advocacy groups or special interest organizations

Our multi-step verification process includes:

• Primary source verification: We seek original documents, official records, and direct statements
• Multiple source corroboration: Key facts must be confirmed by at least two independent sources
• Expert consultation: We reach out to domain experts to evaluate complex technical or scientific claims
• Right of reply: Individuals and organizations criticized in our reporting are given the opportunity to respond before publication

We welcome corrections from our readers. If you believe we have published inaccurate information, please:

• Include the article URL, the specific claim you believe is inaccurate, and any supporting evidence

When we receive a verified correction request:

• Within 24 hours: We acknowledge the report and begin investigation
• Within 48 hours: If an error is confirmed, we publish a correction
• All corrections are logged in our public Corrections Log

Some information may be disputed — not factually incorrect, but subject to different interpretations. In these cases, we present multiple credible perspectives and clearly note that the matter is disputed. We do not take editorial positions on matters of ongoing public debate.
